Accountant – Edinburgh

About the role

Element is seeking a motivated Accountant to join its growing finance team at the new Edinburgh Park office. You will work in a modern, collaborative environment and support a range of finance activities across the European business.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end management accounts and post accruals, pre‑payments and payroll adjustments.
• Review, challenge and post finance manager journals, and upload P&L, working capital and aged debtor data into One Stream.
• Perform month‑end reconciliations, including net sales and inter‑company accounting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and capital project tracking for European central functions.
• Assist with European VAT submissions, statutory reporting and provide monthly analysis for sector businesses.
• Monitor KPIs, support internal/external audits and maintain an effective control environment.
• Undertake ad‑hoc finance initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Degree or professional accounting qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong attention to detail, especially for VAT and GL transactions.
• Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and challenge accounting treatments.
• Positive, can‑do attitude and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) – experience preferred.
• One Stream reporting system – experience preferred.
