Accountant

About the role

Reed Accountancy is recruiting an Accountant for an established client in Crawley. The role involves managing financial records, preparing statements and ensuring tax compliance while supporting both head office and local management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts and supporting schedules to meet group reporting deadlines.
• Maintain a full set of accounts, including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable.
• Manage banking activities, cash‑flow monitoring and treasury operations.
• Produce monthly and annual financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, fixed‑asset registers and cash‑flow statements.
• Process expense reimbursements and administer company credit cards.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits.
• Coordinate Companies House filings and ensure statutory reporting compliance.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, PAYE (RTI) submissions and corporation tax filings.
• Maintain internal controls and support continuous improvement of financial processes.
• Undertake ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounting or finance, preferably within construction, manufacturing or related sectors.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of UK tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and collaborate across departments.
• Immediate or short‑notice availability is highly preferred.
