Accountant – Practice & Industry (All Levels)

About the role

We are seeking motivated accountants at every stage of their career – from assistants and part‑qualified professionals to senior managers and finance business partners. The role can be based on‑site, hybrid or fully remote across the UK, offering hands‑on responsibility for the numbers that drive business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own or support month‑end close activities, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments, reconciliations and timely reporting.
• Prepare management accounts, P&L, balance‑sheet and cash‑flow statements with clear commentary.
• Produce statutory accounts and assist with year‑end audit processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and re‑forecasting cycles, delivering variance analysis.
• Maintain robust balance‑sheet reconciliations and a clean control environment.
• Handle VAT returns and other statutory/regulatory submissions.
• Partner with non‑finance stakeholders to inform commercial decisions.
• Identify and drive process improvements, automation and stronger financial controls.
• For senior roles, manage client portfolios, review junior work and mentor part‑qualified colleagues.

Required profile

• Studying, part‑qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT (qualified‑by‑experience welcomed).
• Strong double‑entry bookkeeping foundation and month‑end discipline.
• High accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, look‑ups, structured modelling).
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle or Dynamics.
• VAT and statutory reporting knowledge.
• Familiarity with tax software (IRIS, CCH) and corporation tax fundamentals.
