Accountant – Small Business Portfolio – £35‑40k

About the role
Join a busy, successful accountancy practice in Fleet, managing a portfolio of small‑business clients. You will work autonomously, delivering high‑quality statutory accounts and bookkeeping while building strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts, primarily using FRS 102 1A.
- Perform bookkeeping duties (approximately two days per week).
- Calculate corporation tax for clients.
- Maintain direct client contact and conduct final accuracy checks.
- Work across accounting software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks, as well as raw data.
Required profile
- AAT Level 3/4 or higher.
- Proven experience in accounts preparation and bookkeeping.
- Detail‑oriented, confident and communicative.
- Living within commuting distance of Fleet (office‑based role).
Required skills
- Proficiency with Xero.
- Proficiency with Sage.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
