Accounting Director – Tech‑First Accountancy for Start‑Ups

About the role

The Accounting Director will join a technology‑led accountancy firm that serves high‑growth UK and US start‑ups. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will act as the primary finance partner for founders, delivering end‑to‑end accounting, compliance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume portfolio of fast‑growing start‑up clients across the UK and US.
• Deliver statutory accounts, VAT, corporate and employment tax, payroll and bookkeeping.
• Advise on start‑up specific tax matters such as R&D tax credits, SEIS/EIS and employment tax.
• Support fundraising rounds with financial modelling, valuations and share‑scheme advice.
• Collaborate with the in‑house engineering team to identify workflow inefficiencies and help develop AI‑driven automation tools.

Required profile

• Significant experience in accounting and tax compliance for start‑ups or high‑growth companies.
• Strong knowledge of UK statutory accounts, VAT, corporate tax, payroll and R&D tax credits.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with founders and senior leadership.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, technology‑focused environment.
