Accounts Assistant (12-month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join a small retail organisation in Woking on a 12‑month contract. The role supports the finance team with day‑to‑day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records and timely processing of transactions. You will work closely with senior accountants to maintain data integrity and help the business meet its financial reporting deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and reconcile accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documentation.
• Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure data integrity.
• Respond to internal and external queries regarding financial information.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Provide general administrative assistance to the accounting team.
• Help identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and processes.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Competence in Microsoft Office tools.
