Accounts Assistant (Honley)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant / Semi‑Senior Accountant to join our Honley office on a full‑time basis. The role offers the chance to work independently on a varied portfolio of SME clients, preparing accounts, tax returns and providing day‑to‑day financial support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies and sole traders.
• Compile and submit Corporation Tax and Self‑Assessment returns, including Making Tax Digital filings.
• Prepare and lodge VAT returns.
• Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile balance‑sheet items.
• Carry out bookkeeping duties and produce management reports.
• Liaise regularly with clients to manage deadlines and queries.

Required profile

• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Proven ability to manage accounts preparation from start to finish.
• Experience dealing directly with clients and meeting strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting software, preferably Xero.
