Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an organised and detail‑focused Accounts Assistant to join a busy UK distributor’s finance team in Staplehurst, Maidstone. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support both sales and purchase ledger functions while providing day‑to‑day financial administration.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, resolve discrepancies and reconcile statements.
• Assist with supplier payment runs and handle supplier queries.
• Raise customer invoices and credit notes, upload them to external platforms and send statements.
• Post daily receipts, process card payments and chase outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers and manage finance inboxes.
• Perform ad‑hoc finance and administrative duties, including handling incoming post.

Required profile

• Previous experience in accounts or finance administration.
• Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Professional communication skills for liaising with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Proactive, self‑motivated attitude with a willingness to learn.
