Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our eco‑conscious brand in Wythenshawe. You will work closely with the Director to manage day‑to‑day finance activities, cash flow and financial planning while supporting a purpose‑driven, sustainable business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
• Support financial planning and forecasting activities.
• Monitor budgets, debt trackers and HMRC obligations.
• Process supplier invoices and schedule payments.
• Raise customer invoices and allocate incoming payments.
• Conduct weekly credit control, chase outstanding debts and produce reports.
• Reconcile accounts and maintain records within Xero.
• Liaise with banks, finance providers and external accountants.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Making Tax Digital requirements.
• Support quarterly management accounts and year‑end processes.
• Produce sales, customer, product and profitability reports.
• Maintain organised finance documentation and records.

Required profile

• Previous finance administration or bookkeeping experience.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent numeracy and analytical abilities.
• Confident communication with suppliers, customers and external stakeholders.
• Proactive and positive approach to work.

Required skills

• Xero
• Bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing and credit control
• Good understanding of VAT and UK financial compliance
• Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with Shopify Trade, Coupa, Inflow
