Accounts Assistant

About the role

Our client, a UK Top 40 practice, is seeking a proactive Accounts Assistant to support a portfolio of clients and contribute to the firm’s digital transformation. You will work closely with senior accountants, develop client relationships, and help modernise financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, charities and limited companies in line with accounting standards.
• Submit VAT returns and manage client bookkeeping records and management accounts.
• Support the timely preparation of tax returns and ensure profitability of client engagements.
• Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including client‑facing engagements.
• Assist junior staff and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
• Contribute to firm‑wide digital transformation by promoting automation and digital tools.

Required profile

• Level 4 AAT qualification.
• General practice experience in accounting.
• Ability to travel to client premises and between offices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with Xero accounting software.
