Accounts Assistant

About the role

Tregothnan, a historic rural estate in Cornwall, is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. You will work closely with the Management Accountant, processing transactions and supporting month‑end activities in a dynamic, heritage‑rich environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, reconcile statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Record income, assist with credit control and perform bank/credit‑card reconciliations.
• Support creditor payment runs and prepare monthly internal invoices.
• Assist with verification, accruals, journal entries and quarterly VAT returns.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and contribute to management accounts.

Required profile

• AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a similar accounts role.
• Familiarity with SAGE or comparable accounting software.
• Strong organisational ability, attention to detail and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to the rural location.

• Salary of £29,000 per annum (experience dependent).
• 35‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 9:00‑17:00.
