Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are partnering with a rapidly growing FMCG business in Bedfordshire to find an Accounts Assistant to join the finance team. This role provides a well‑rounded exposure to core accounting tasks while supporting your progression towards a professional qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and support treasury activities, including funding reconciliations and cash management.
• Assist with month‑end processes such as journal entries, balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals and supplier payment runs.
• Manage supplier recharges, promotional contributions and miscellaneous invoicing, ensuring timely billing and collection.
• Process employee expenses in line with company policies, VAT requirements and accurate GL coding.
• Maintain and update customer and supplier rebate agreements within the ERP system.
• Liaise with commercial teams to validate rebate data and support agreement administration.
• Investigate and resolve finance‑related queries while supporting audits, process improvements and wider finance projects.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar accounts or finance role.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy and organisational skills.
• Good working knowledge of Excel, including common formulas and data analysis tools.
• Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience using an ERP or finance system.
• Studying towards, or interested in, a professional accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA or CIMA).
