Accounts Assistant

About the role

Join a thriving independent firm of accountants and business advisors in Edinburgh, supporting a diverse portfolio of SME clients. You will work within a supportive team that values development and offers training to help you progress your accounting career.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders.
• Produce management accounts and corporate/personal tax returns.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of accounting standards.
• Communicate orally and in writing with clients and HMRC.
• Liaise with colleagues to deliver coordinated client service.
• Maintain proactive client contact to ensure high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting practice preparing FRS102 Section 1A accounts.
• Can be part‑qualified or qualified by experience.
• Experience with corporation tax and personal tax is desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and adapt to a commercial environment.
