Accounts Assistant – Residential Portfolio (West Hampstead)

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the day‑to‑day financial operations of a residential property portfolio for a well‑established estate agency.

Key responsibilities

• Process incoming tenant rents and reconcile service‑charge accounts, ensuring correct allocation to landlords.
• Handle accounts payable by coding and paying contractor and supplier invoices for property maintenance and repairs.
• Register tenant deposits with authorised protection schemes and process release payments at tenancy end.
• Perform weekly or monthly reconciliations for client bank accounts and tenant deposit accounts.
• Monitor rent arrears, issue reminders to tenants and escalate uncollected payments.
• Manage contractor invoices and payments, liaising with contractors and leaseholders.
• Review and prepare VAT returns.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience using Xero within block management or residential property accounting.
• Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in dealing with landlords, tenants and contractors.

What we offer

• Salary range £30,000 – £40,000, dependent on experience.
• Office‑based role in West Hampstead, London with Monday‑Thursday 9 am‑6 pm and Friday 9 am‑5:30 pm working hours.
