Accounts Assistant Temp to Perm – Immediate Start

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accounts Assistant to join our busy Finance Department in South Croydon. The role starts immediately on a temporary basis with the prospect of becoming permanent, supporting day‑to‑day finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily payments, including BACS, card and cheque transactions.
• Record payment receipts and maintain accurate records in Sage 200.
• Export and import financial data between Microsoft Access and Sage 200.
• Reconcile client bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Process client refunds following company procedures.
• Review insurer statements and investigate account variances.
• Monitor and manage aged debtors.
• Send payment receipts and handle finance‑related client queries.
• Support month‑end activities, reporting and general finance administration.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper or similar role.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes such as payments, receipts, reconciliations and debtor management.
• Good working knowledge of Sage 200 or a comparable accounting package.
• Proficient Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, filters and pivot tables.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction by phone and email.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
