Accounts & Audit Semi‑Senior – Alton

About the role

This position offers a semi‑senior accountant the chance to work within a well‑established independent accountancy firm in Alton. You will deliver high‑quality accounting and audit services to a varied client portfolio, supporting both statutory reporting and audit engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for multiple clients in line with UK accounting standards.
• Assist in planning, executing and completing audit assignments, ensuring timely delivery.
• Support senior auditors during fieldwork and documentation.
• Prepare corporate tax returns and maintain up‑to‑date client financial records.
• Identify and resolve issues related to accounting and audit processes.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or part‑qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and conducting audits.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and audit practice.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
