Accounts Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to lead our Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in Carlisle. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own the day‑to‑day finance operations while driving improvements in processes and controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support two direct reports – an Accounts Payable Assistant and a Credit Control Assistant.
• Oversee invoice processing, supplier payments and customer receipts.
• Lead the credit control function, reducing aged debt and improving cash collection.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and support cash‑flow forecasting.
• Assist with month‑end activities including accruals, pre‑payments and reconciliations.
• Liaise with banks, suppliers, customers and internal departments confidently.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and efficiencies.
• Maintain strong financial controls and accurate accounting records.
• Support overseas payroll settlements, expense processing and ad‑hoc finance projects.

Required profile

• 3–5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or transactional finance.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring a finance team.
• AAT qualification or equivalent is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive approach to process improvement and financial controls.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Good IT systems knowledge for finance applications.
