Accounts Payable Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to join the finance team of a well‑established construction business in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will help ensure the purchase ledger runs smoothly and support broader finance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Review invoice coding and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile supplier statements and address outstanding queries.
• Assist with supplier payment runs and maintain accurate supplier records.
• Sort and distribute incoming post for the finance department.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and controls.
• Support the finance team with ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger role.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy.
• Confident communicator able to build relationships across the business.
• Well‑organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive approach with willingness to improve processes.
