Accounts Payable Clerk – Temporary Full‑Time (Hybrid)

About the role

The finance team of a respected organisation in Bedfordshire is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk on a temporary full‑time basis. You will play a key role in processing supplier invoices, managing payments and supporting expense claims within a busy finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Process and match supplier invoices to purchase orders.
• Manage the Accounts Payable mailbox and respond to queries.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Scan, capture and maintain invoice records in the finance system.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and obtain workflow approvals.
• Assist with weekly and monthly BACS payment runs.
• Process staff and student expense claims.
• Support foreign supplier payments and related administration.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and payment‑related queries.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger.
• Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end Purchase‑to‑Pay (P2P) process.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good numerical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Proactive and collaborative working approach.
• Studying towards AAT qualifications is desirable.

• Agresso or other ERP systems.
