Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

Join a purpose‑driven housing organisation in Kent as an Accounts Payable Officer. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you will ensure invoices are processed accurately and suppliers are paid on time, supporting the finance team’s day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process and code purchase invoices, direct debits and other financial transactions to the correct accounts and cost centres.
• Manage the Accounts Payable inbox, respond to supplier queries and meet processing deadlines.
• Prepare supplier payment runs and maintain accurate payment records.
• Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies and keep supplier master data up to date.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any differences with the finance team.
• Handle company credit‑card transactions and monthly reconciliations.
• Support VAT compliance and accurate VAT recovery.
• Assist with purchase order processes and ensure procurement procedures are followed.
• Maintain records for cash‑flow monitoring and AP reporting.
• Contribute to the implementation and use of finance and contract‑management systems.
