Accounts Payable Team Leader

About the role

The Accounts Payable/Finance Team Leader will head a team of nine administrators, ensuring supplier invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time. This role balances operational oversight with continuous improvement, supporting both internal finance functions and external stakeholder expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of nine Accounts Payable Administrators.
• Oversee end‑to‑end invoice processing and payment runs, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor workloads, resolve escalated supplier queries and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls and audit requirements.
• Support month‑end activities, supplier reconciliations and payment cycles.
• Track departmental KPIs and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement and operational teams to align with business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support system or process changes.

Required profile

• Previous experience leading an Accounts Payable or Finance team.
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and financial controls.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Attention to detail with the capacity to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Desirable: AAT qualification or equivalent and experience with ERP/finance systems and process‑improvement projects.
