Accounts Semi Senior

About the role

Our client, a growing local accountancy practice, is seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to support the accounts department. You will develop your technical knowledge while delivering high‑quality accounting services to a range of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Review work of Accounts Assistants and provide timely feedback.
• Prepare complex elements such as VAT controls, PAYE controls and draft annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Ensure compliance with current reporting legislation (FRS105, FRS102(1a) desirable) and prepare disclosure checklists.
• Undertake analytical reviews of balance sheets and profit & loss statements and raise queries for reviewers.
• Prepare draft corporate tax computations for review by the tax manager.
• Produce schedules and controls for management accounts and highlight unusual patterns.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and submit VAT returns on time.
• Assist with statutory work and, where applicable, follow audit instructions for bank testing and transaction verification.

Required profile

• Motivated to undertake training and progress technical accounting knowledge.
• Ability to integrate with the team and support colleagues.
• Attention to detail when reviewing work and preparing documentation.
• Understanding of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.
