Accounts Semi Senior (Part‑Qualified) – Newton‑le‑Willows

About the role

This is a varied Accounts Semi Senior / Part‑Qualified Accountant position based in the Newton‑le‑Willows office of a small, independent practice. You will primarily prepare accounts and client work while gaining exposure to audit assignments in a friendly, close‑knit team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts and financial statements for a diverse client portfolio.
• Produce management accounts and VAT returns.
• Assist with audit assignments where required.
• Support business advisory and compliance work.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships.
• Manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
• Review work where appropriate, depending on experience level.
• Collaborate closely with senior team members to deliver high‑quality client service.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, or studying towards qualification.
• Experience in accounts preparation and year‑end accounts.
• Interest in gaining audit exposure (previous audit experience not essential).
• Personable, reliable, organised and comfortable working fully office‑based.
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Iris or Mercia.
