Acute Medicine Registrar (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a fully qualified MRCP doctor to join our Acute Medicine team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role offers specialist experience across acute medical take, Acute Medicine Unit, ambulatory care and cardiology ward rounds, with built‑in self‑development time.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality acute/general medicine care during day and night shifts, including out‑of‑hours leadership.
• Work on the acute medical take alongside another registrar and rotate through the AMU, ambulatory care and cardiology wards.
• Provide support, training and mentorship to junior colleagues such as FY1/FY2, IMT, ACCS, GP trainees and research fellows.
• Participate in departmental clinical governance and local teaching programmes.
• Maintain patient safety, rapid decision‑making, safe discharge planning and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Required profile

• Full MRCP qualification.
• Experience in acute/general medicine with ability to work day and night shifts.
• Leadership skills for out‑of‑hours shifts and mentorship of junior staff.
• Commitment to patient safety and high clinical standards.
• Engagement with clinical governance and teaching activities.
