Administration and Pupil Wellbeing Officer

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports a primary school in Blackburn by overseeing pastoral care, attendance, safeguarding and day‑to‑day administration. The role combines organisational duties with a strong focus on pupil wellbeing and safeguarding.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and improve pupil attendance, organise and lead attendance meetings.
• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Manage safeguarding concerns using the MyConcern system and attend multi‑agency meetings.
• Liaise with external agencies, parents and carers to provide guidance and support.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and confidential documentation.
• Provide administrative support for the school’s pastoral and wellbeing services.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a school, education, safeguarding, attendance, pastoral, family support or social‑care setting.
• Sound understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
• Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Confidence to work independently and manage a varied workload.
• Calm, professional and empathetic approach to sensitive situations.
