Adult Occupational Therapist – Housing Service (North London)

About the role

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an experienced Adult Occupational Therapist to join its Housing Service. You will lead assessments for disabled residents and their carers, ensuring timely adaptations and high‑value solutions across the borough.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct home assessments and determine suitability for adaptations.
• Design individual adaptation schemes that meet specific needs and budget constraints.
• Provide expert advice, training and guidance to housing staff.
• Manage complex housing applications, allocations and major adaptation specifications.
• Influence new‑build home designs to achieve Lifetime Homes Standards.
• Lead Carers’ assessments under the Care Act 2014.
• Produce robust documentation that promotes independence and well‑being.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in adult services.
• Resilient, proactive and able to manage a complex workload.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for mobile assessments.
• Physical ability to handle low‑level equipment delivery and fitting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Care Act 2014.
• Understanding of Lifetime Homes Standards.
• Ability to assess property suitability for adaptations.
