Adult Occupational Therapist – Housing Service (North London)

About the role

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an experienced Adult Occupational Therapist to lead assessments of disabled residents and their carers within its Housing Service. This specialist role focuses on timely adaptations, value‑for‑money solutions, and influencing new‑build designs to meet Lifetime Homes Standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess disabled residents and their carers for appropriate housing adaptations.
• Design individual adaptation schemes and ensure cost‑effective delivery.
• Provide advice, training and guidance to housing staff on adaptation processes.
• Determine property suitability and influence new‑build designs to meet Lifetime Homes Standards.
• Lead complex carers’ assessments under the Care Act 2014.
• Travel across the borough to conduct home assessments and visit equipment stores.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist with experience working with adults.
• Experience in housing or social‑care environments.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Physical ability to manage manual tasks such as delivering and fitting low‑level equipment.
• Resilient, proactive and capable of managing a complex workload.
