Adults Social Worker – Learning Disabilities

About the role
We are seeking an experienced adult social worker to join our Learning Disability and Neurodiversity team in Southampton. The role is a three‑month, full‑time contract (37 hours per week) that combines independent home visits with regular office presence.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct Care Act assessments for adults with learning disabilities.
- Lead S42 safeguarding enquiries and ensure compliance.
- Carry out robust, evidence‑based Mental Capacity Assessments and document best‑interest decisions.
- Undertake lone working home visits while maintaining accurate records.
- Respond calmly and effectively to high‑risk, high‑demand situations.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with individuals who have learning disabilities or are neurodiverse.
- Strong understanding of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Excellent time‑management, recording and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently on home visits and collaborate within an office setting.
