Advanced Practitioner - Children in Care

About the role

Randstad Care is recruiting an Advanced Practitioner to join Newcastle Council's Children in Care Reunification Team. This senior, non‑caseholding position focuses on developing practice, mentoring colleagues, and delivering high‑quality specialist reunification assessments to help children safely return home or transition out of care.

Key responsibilities

• Complete and oversee complex specialist assessments, including Parenting, Placement with Parents, Capacity to Protect, Sibling Attachment, and Special Guardianship.
• Prepare court documentation, write detailed reports, and give evidence in court as required to support the discharge of care orders.
• Mentor social workers, building confidence, consistency in assessment work and risk management.
• Contribute to evidence‑based practice, service development and strategic planning within the team.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Work and active registration with Social Work England.
• Extensive experience in complex assessments, care proceedings and court work within Children’s Services.
• Strong risk‑management abilities and proven track record of high‑quality report writing.
• Demonstrated mentoring or leadership experience.
