Advanced Rehabilitation Engineering Technician (Westmarc Yoker)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an experienced Rehabilitation Engineering Technician to join the WestMARC team in Yoker. You will be responsible for the modification, delivery and repair of both manual and powered wheelchairs for patients across the West of Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical faults in wheelchairs.
• Configure and customise wheelchair systems to meet individual patient needs.
• Perform routine maintenance, delivery and installation of wheelchair equipment.
• Maintain workshop safety standards using hand tools, power tools and specialised equipment.
• Mentor and train junior staff in engineering practices.

Required profile

• HND or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in an engineering environment.
• Full UK driving licence and good knowledge of the Highway Code.
• Strong problem‑solving, time‑management and communication abilities.
• High level of IT literacy and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Electrical engineering knowledge.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Experience using PC‑based programming and diagnostic systems.
• Familiarity with computer‑aided software packages.
• Wheelchair repair and configuration expertise.
