Advanced Social Worker - Assessment and Intervention

About the role

Our client, Devon County Council, is seeking an Advanced Social Worker to join the Assessment and Intervention team. This hands‑on position involves a smaller caseload of children and families with complex needs, while providing professional leadership, supervision and mentorship to colleagues and students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based assessments for children and families.
• Provide leadership, supervision and on‑the‑job training to unqualified, alternatively qualified staff and students.
• Support the Team Manager in day‑to‑day operations and service improvement.
• Champion professional standards, encourage reflective practice and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach colleagues, fostering a restorative, child‑centred culture.

Required profile

• Substantial post‑qualifying experience at Advanced Social Worker level.
• Proven ability to work with families with complex needs in a multi‑agency environment.
• Experience of mentoring, coaching and training professional colleagues.
• Evidence of ongoing post‑qualifying training and development.
• Capability to lead improvement initiatives and constructively challenge practice quality.
