Aerospace Speed Shop Estimator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Business Development team within the aerospace sector. The role focuses on fast‑paced "Speed Shop" and AOG requirements, delivering accurate and commercially competitive cost estimates for new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and compile detailed estimates in response to customer RFQs and proposals.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and supply data to identify material, subcontract and manufacturing needs.
• Develop cost models covering raw materials, bought‑out items, subcontract operations and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Strategic Sourcing and Programme teams to ensure technically robust and competitive bids.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating best practices and liaise with machine‑tool and cutting‑tool manufacturers.
• Present cost proposals to customers, explaining assumptions and technical capabilities.
• Assist handover of awarded projects to the Programme team, communicating bid assumptions and manufacturing strategies.
• Review estimating activity and pipeline performance with the Business Development team.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification (HNC level or higher preferred).
• Proven experience in estimating, costing or business development within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Extensive knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, especially aerostructures, metallic components and assembly processes.
• Strong understanding of raw materials, machining processes, productivity and manufacturing resources.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and financial skills with high attention to detail.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and solution‑focused attitude.
