AI Application Developer – Python, Machine Learning & Generative AI

About the role

This permanent position joins a newly created AI Squad within a leading UK asset manager. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders to build AI‑powered applications and explore generative AI use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy machine‑learning and generative‑AI solutions.
• Build software features for enterprise applications and data platforms.
• Implement Large Language Model (LLM) and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, including prompt engineering.
• Integrate OpenAI APIs, Azure AI services and other emerging AI technologies.
• Develop and maintain APIs and cloud‑based services.
• Support model development, testing, deployment and performance monitoring.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Document technical solutions and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• Degree (2:1 or above) in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or C#.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented development and software engineering principles.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning frameworks and data‑science libraries.
• Experience with REST API design and integration.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
