AI Business Analyst

About the role
The AI Business Analyst will act as the bridge between business, data and technology teams for a Southampton‑based client. You will identify and shape opportunities where artificial intelligence, generative AI, intelligent automation and machine learning can deliver measurable business value. The role sits within a growing tech function and contributes to AI‑enabled transformation across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to discover AI‑enabled use cases that improve processes, decision‑making and operational efficiency.
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and interviews to capture business challenges and translate them into functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Develop business cases, assess feasibility, estimate ROI and prioritise AI initiatives based on value, risk and readiness.
- Lead requirements gathering, produce user stories, process maps, functional specifications and define acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with technology teams, data specialists and third‑party vendors to ensure accurate solution design and delivery.
- Evaluate data suitability, define data flows, governance standards and support data preparation for AI projects.
- Contribute to options analysis and assist in selecting AI platforms, technologies and vendor solutions.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst working on AI, analytics or automation projects.
- Strong ability to engage with senior stakeholders and translate business needs into clear technical requirements.
- Solid understanding of AI concepts such as generative AI, machine learning and intelligent automation.
- Experience developing business cases, ROI calculations and prioritisation frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
Required skills
- Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their application in business contexts.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality assessment and data preparation processes.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams including data scientists, engineers and vendors.
