Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join a specialist contractor in London. You will lead a small team delivering maintenance and project work across commercial, data‑centre and banking environments, while remaining hands‑on with technical tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of engineers on multiple commercial sites.
• Deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration plant.
• Carry out installations, refurbishments and minor projects for air‑conditioning and cooling systems.
• Diagnose, fault‑find and repair a wide range of equipment, including VRV/VRF, VAV, DX and CRAC units.
• Service cold rooms, walk‑in chillers, freezer rooms and integral refrigeration units.
• Perform compressor, condenser, fan motor and expansion valve replacements, as well as brazing, soldering, pressure testing, evacuation and refrigerant charging.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to site engineers.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and clients to ensure efficient, safe completion of works.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.
• F‑Gas Category 1 certification.
• Proven experience maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience, or a strong desire to move into a supervisory role.
• Full UK driving licence.
