Air Import Freight Forwarder – Logistics Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Air Import Freight Forwarder to join a leading international freight forwarding company. The role involves managing inbound air shipments from arrival through to final delivery while providing high‑level customer service in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day international air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
• Monitor shipment arrivals and ensure documentation is processed accurately and on time.
• Create and maintain accurate operational files within the freight forwarding system.
• Check and process import documentation, including MAWBs, HAWBs, commercial invoices and packing lists.
• Arrange customs clearance in accordance with HMRC regulations and company procedures.
• Coordinate final deliveries and liaise with transport providers.
• Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, handling agents, customers and internal departments.
• Provide proactive shipment updates to customers, including any delays or changes.
• Resolve operational issues, delays and customer queries efficiently and professionally.
• Ensure all operational milestones are updated accurately within the freight forwarding system.
• Enter costs, buy and sell rates, and billing information accurately and within required timescales.
• Work closely with customs, warehouse, gateway, finance and export teams to ensure smooth progression of shipments.
• Support colleagues during busy periods and provide holiday cover where required.

Required profile

• Previous experience within Air Import Freight Forwarding.
• Good understanding of import customs procedures and air freight documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CargoWise or a similar freight forwarding system.
