About the role

Berenberg Bank’s Innovation & Technology team in London is expanding its electronic trading capability. The role focuses on building high‑performance algorithmic trading engines and real‑time desktop tools that support liquidity‑seeking strategies across European equity markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based trading engines for algo orders and liquidity‑seeking.
• Implement real‑time trading desktops using React and related web technologies.
• Contribute to algorithmic strategy design and integration with the trading stack.
• Build data analytics pipelines, storage and processing components to support trading decisions.
• Collaborate with investment‑banking engineering teams to ensure best‑practice implementation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong Java development experience with a focus on performant, real‑time server code.
• Solid understanding of European equity market trading.
• Attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
• Interest in the broader trading technology ecosystem and continuous learning.
