Alternative Provision SEN Teacher (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an Alternative Provision Teacher to deliver 1:1 and small‑group sessions for pupils who struggle to access mainstream education because of special educational needs, social‑emotional and mental health issues, medical conditions, or while awaiting a specialist school placement.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver a range of academic and therapeutic sessions tailored to each child’s abilities and developmental stage.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of each session and use insights to adapt future learning.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with students, recognising their individuality and cultural identity.
• Maintain detailed individual records to monitor progress and inform assessment.
• Collaborate with schools, parents/carers and multi‑agency teams, acting as key worker/lead tutor for a small group of pupils.
• Participate in meetings, professional development and stay updated on educational regulations.

Required profile

• Experience delivering tailored educational programmes for students with SEN, SEMH or similar needs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and knowledge of current educational best practices.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Design and evaluation of therapeutic and educational sessions.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

What we offer

• Salary range £32,000 – £36,000 per year.
