Ambulance Dispatcher – 24/7 Emergency Operations Centre

About the role

The Ambulance Dispatcher will join the 999 control room team at the Emergency Operations Centre, coordinating the deployment of Trust vehicles to emergency and non‑emergency calls across the service area. The role operates 24/7, covering weekends, nights and bank holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and dispatch ambulances and other emergency vehicles in real time.
• Maintain accurate records of call details and vehicle movements.
• Work collaboratively with clinicians, call takers and other control room staff.
• Adhere to NHS unsocial hours payment terms and Trust procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English (or equivalent).
• Strong oral communication and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work a rotating 24/7 shift pattern, including weekends and holidays.
• Tactful and diplomatic approach when dealing with callers and colleagues.
