Animal Care Lecturer (Further Education)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Animal Care Lecturers to deliver high‑quality teaching for further‑education providers in London. You will inspire learners pursuing careers in animal welfare, husbandry and related sectors, helping them achieve both academic and professional goals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Animal Care lessons across a range of levels.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress in line with college requirements.
• Provide constructive feedback and tailored academic support to learners.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes safety and respect.
• Support students in developing practical skills in animal handling, health, behaviour and husbandry.
• Contribute to learner retention, achievement and progression.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or qualification in Animal Care, Zoology, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Science or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Animal Care in further‑education, higher‑education, secondary or adult learning settings.
• Strong classroom management and communication abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Passion for animal education and welfare.

Required skills

• Knowledge of animal welfare standards and legislation.
• Understanding of animal husbandry and handling techniques.
• Familiarity with animal behaviour assessment methods.
• Ability to deliver practical, hands‑on training sessions.
