Applied AI Architect, Education

About the role

OpenAI is looking for an Applied AI Architect to lead the technical strategy for education customers in London. You will act as the “CTO of your book of business,” shaping AI roadmaps from discovery through production and measurable impact.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical account plan for ChatGPT Edu, OpenAI API, Codex and other agentic AI solutions across a portfolio of education institutions.
• Partner with Account Directors to translate institutional priorities into use‑case portfolios, adoption roadmaps and value‑realisation paths.
• Lead discovery workshops, demos, prototypes and proofs of value with senior academic and technical stakeholders.
• Design end‑to‑end architectures covering models, data integration, identity, security, privacy, governance and deployment.
• Coordinate deployment engineering, product, research and education specialists to ensure successful implementation and scale.

Required profile

• Significant experience in customer‑facing technical roles such as solutions architecture, AI deployment or technical account leadership.
• Proven ability to guide complex organisations from technical evaluation to production adoption and measurable outcomes.
• Strong communication skills to engage senior executives, faculty, researchers and technical teams.

• Python programming.

• Cloud and distributed system architecture.
• Data integration, identity management, security and privacy.
• Knowledge of large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation and agentic AI.
