Applied AI Engineer – Life Sciences (Beneficial Deployments)

About the role

Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join its Beneficial Deployments team, focusing on accelerating scientific progress in the life sciences. You will work closely with leading research institutions to embed Claude‑based AI tools into real scientific workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Partner deeply with flagship life‑sciences research institutions, understand their end‑to‑end scientific workflows, and co‑build production systems that become part of daily research.
• Develop reusable ecosystem infrastructure such as MCP servers for genomics platforms, literature databases, and experimental repositories, together with benchmarks and agent skills.
• Identify the hardest challenges of AI deployment in life sciences—heterogeneous data, auditability, prototype‑to‑trust gaps—and feed insights back to product, engineering, and research teams.
• Create technical content and documentation that enables partners to self‑serve, scaling successful solutions across the broader community.

Required profile

• Deep research experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing, with bonus expertise in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery.
• Experience building LLM‑powered tools or applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, and evaluation frameworks.
• Proven ability to ship production code as a software engineer, forward‑deployed engineer, or technical founder.
• Scrappy mentality: comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, and driving clarity in ambiguous situations.
