Apprentice 7.5t Driver

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Urban Driver Apprentice to join our team in Middlesbrough. Over a 15‑month apprenticeship you will train to become a professional 7.5‑tonne (Category C1) driver and gain the CPC licence required for LGV vehicles, with the aim of moving into a full‑time driver position at DX.

Key responsibilities

• Represent DX professionally and adhere to company policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks, report defects and complete required paperwork.
• Load deliveries safely, scan parcels using DX equipment and ensure accurate routing.
• Drive vehicles safely and legally, complying with all road and company regulations.
• Perform non‑driving duties such as office tasks, assisting drivers and warehousing activities during training.
• Report delivery or on‑road issues promptly to the traffic office.
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring parcels arrive in perfect condition.

Required profile

• Minimum age 18 with a valid UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain Category C1).
• Commitment to complete the 15‑month apprenticeship and obtain CPC licence.
• Ability to work on‑site in Middlesbrough and follow health & safety procedures.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude.

Required skills

• Category C1 (7.5t) licence (or eligibility to acquire).
• CPC licence for LGV vehicles.
• Basic use of scanning equipment and familiarity with delivery routing software.
