Apprentice Engineer – Gas Plant

About the role

SARIA is seeking an Apprentice Engineer to join its gas plant team at the Widnes site. This full‑time, permanent apprenticeship offers hands‑on experience in maintaining and improving gas upgrading and grid entry units while working under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with planned and reactive maintenance of gas upgrading plants, Grid Entry Units and related equipment.
• Support routine operational checks and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Develop practical mechanical engineering skills through supervised, hands‑on tasks.
• Record operational data and help with condition‑monitoring inspections.
• Maintain accurate engineering logs, records and maintenance documentation.
• Support process operations to ensure efficient and reliable plant performance.
• Assist with environmental and operational compliance activities.
• Help monitor plant performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Participate in engineering projects and site‑improvement initiatives as part of training.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers under supervision.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths.
• Interest in biogas, natural gas systems or industrial process operations.
• Positive attitude, willingness to embrace new challenges and work as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately.
