Apprentice Resident Engineer (Forklift Service)

About the role

Crown Lift Trucks is looking for an Apprentice Resident Engineer to join its Northampton workshop. You will be trained to service, repair and maintain forklift trucks, gaining hands‑on experience with hydraulics, LPG and electric systems while working towards an engineering apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on customer forklift trucks to Crown specifications.
• Perform planned maintenance, install components and ensure trucks are clean and secure in the workshop.
• Shadow experienced engineers, attend manufacturer training and complete college modules as required.
• Complete administrative tasks such as worksheets, timesheets and tool/spare issue records.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and follow instructions with a keen interest in engineering.
• Minimum GCSE grades 9‑4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Motivated, flexible, dependable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
