About the role

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking an Apprentice Trading Standards Officer to join its Trading Standards team. This full‑time, permanent position combines on‑the‑job learning with a Level 6 Trading Standards Professional apprenticeship over three years. You will develop a solid understanding of trading standards legislation, with a focus on illegal vape‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate consumer complaints and rogue trader activities.
• Support senior officers in enforcing fair‑trading and consumer protection laws.
• Develop expertise in illegal vape legislation and related enforcement.
• Contribute to the team’s business plan objectives.
• Provide administrative support and maintain accurate case records.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about protecting the public and promoting fair trading.
• Curious, detail‑oriented and eager to learn.
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organised and capable of balancing study with work commitments.
