Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) – Adults Social Worker

About the role

Our client, Oldham Council, is looking for an Adults Social Worker to join its Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) team. The role involves supporting adults with diagnosed mental health conditions within secondary mental health care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to adults with dementia, psychosis, anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions.
• Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary Community Mental Health Team alongside health and allied health professionals.
• Implement the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act, conduct holistic needs assessments, develop and review personalised care plans, and manage risk.
• Operate within the Care Programme Approach, ensuring sound risk management throughout.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
• Social work qualification (Diploma, degree or equivalent).
• Minimum three years post‑qualifying experience as a qualified social worker.
