Architect – Summer/Winter 2025 (Full‑Time)

About the role

As an Architect at David Kohn Architects you will lead design development on ambitious projects, working with leading consultants and inspiring clients. The position is senior‑level, offering ownership of projects, mentorship of junior staff and the chance to contribute to carbon‑negative design research.

Key responsibilities

• Act as senior, project or package architect depending on experience and project scope.
• Drive design development through sketching, modelling and CAD, conducting regular design reviews.
• Collaborate with team leaders to ensure coherent design and delivery approaches.
• Manage project resourcing, budgeting and time planning.
• Communicate effectively with clients and coordinate across design teams.
• Oversee site work and administer building contracts.
• Support new business opportunities and marketing efforts.
• Line‑manage architectural assistants and mentor junior colleagues.

Required profile

• Proven delivery of UK projects with knowledge of statutory processes and standards.
• Experience across all project stages, including site work; contract administration is a plus.
• Commercially astute with ability to meet timescales, cost and resource budgets.
• Highly organised with strong planning capabilities for self and team.
• Portfolio demonstrating high‑quality brief development, design and materiality.
• Excellent client communication and clear presentation skills.
• Understanding of architectural history and David Kohn Architects’ design approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Vectorworks and CAD tools.
• Presentation creation using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge of Revit (advantage).
• Experience writing specifications with NBS (advantage).
• Strong hand‑sketching ability for ideas, plans and details.
• Physical model‑making and direction of assistants.
