Archive Assistant

About the role

Liberty is seeking a full‑time Archive Assistant to join the Liberty Fabrics team in its Great Marlborough Street design studios. You will support the research, care and promotion of a historic textile archive that holds over 60,000 artworks spanning 150 years of design innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct archive research using the iBase collections management system in response to design briefs.
• Maintain and develop archive records, and care for physical collections, including visits to the off‑site archive.
• Collaborate with design teams to label, package and archive artwork, samples and sales materials for seasonal collections.
• Support copyright clearance, due‑diligence processes and respond to internal and external archive enquiries.
• Assist with archive visits, exhibitions, special events and provide historical research for product development and marketing.
• Manage archive supplies and process related invoices.

Required profile

• Background in art, design, archives, museums or information management.
• Experience responding to creative briefs within a design‑led environment.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a methodical approach to research and administration.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple fast‑paced creative teams.
• Knowledge of 19th and 20th century British art and design history is an advantage.
