Area Manager – Grounds Maintenance (Surrey & London)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead a high‑value, multi‑site grounds‑maintenance contract across Surrey and London. You will own a £1.3m portfolio, driving service delivery, client relationships and contract performance.

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of service delivery, KPIs and contract compliance across three contract lots.
• Direct line management of two supervisors and indirect oversight of approximately 13 teams (15 teams total).
• Resourcing, scheduling and performance management to close visit‑compliance gaps.
• Act as senior client contact, rebuilding and maintaining strong relationships.
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections (weekly in London, frequent in Surrey).
• Budget oversight and commercial performance against contract targets.
• Promote a fair, performance‑led culture among operational staff.

Required profile

• Background in grounds maintenance (highly desirable).
• Full UK driving licence (non‑negotiable).
• Experience managing contracts of £800k‑£850k or higher.
• Proven track record managing 6‑8+ teams across multiple sites.
• Strong people and performance management abilities.
• Excellent planning, scheduling and organisational capability.
